Beliefs, Activities, and Organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses—and Their Common Misconceptions

University Center  |  Wednesday, March 19 • 1pm

Instructor: Jim Cox • Human Interest

This presentation will explain who Jehovah’s Witnesses are, together with some of their beliefs and activities. The organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses is different than that of other religions, which usually have a clergy-laity division; Jehovah’s Witnesses have no paid clergy and all of Jehovah’s Witnesses are ordained ministers. There are many misconceptions about Jehovah’s Witnesses, which can usually be corrected with simple explanations. This class is designed to illuminate a religion that is often misunderstood.

About the Presenter: Jim Cox has been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since his baptism in 1965; over the years he has helped many to gain an understanding of the Bible. Jim has been serving as a congregation elder for over 40 years but works secularly to support himself and his wife. While he is a highly experienced Witness, he prefers to avoid special recognition for his work for the Lord.
